Wolftrap Farm, Gordonsville, VA

It’s always nice when I go back to a place that has something new or different going on each visit. While shooting photos for my friend and client, Capt. Rob’s Pigalicious Barbecue, who was catering a wedding, horse back riding was going on. It was fun watching them ride the horses especially since we didn’t get to see that last time. Wolftrap Farm in Gordonsvilles, VA is a gorgeous venue.

Pig candy is in the new big smoker. After a few hours in the smoker, it becomes an experience in your mouth! SO GOOD!!

Country Fall Flowers

Fall is here! Fall flowers are in bloom, leaves are about to change, hay is gathered and stored. Do you have a property or venue that you could use professional photos? With the trees starting to change, now is a great time to schedule a photographer! Having great photos for your website, social media or print makes the biggest difference.

Pros know that by doing something as simple as changing the angle of the shot can make huge difference.

A professional photographer will take multiple photos of the same item because things happen, like wind changing the focal point.

If you’re interested in gorgeous, professional photos for whatever reason, feel free to give me a call at 804-402-0084. I will travel outside of Richmond, VA.

Learning YouTube

This video was created using YouTube. It is a combination of videos and photos from my phone. Nothing fancy. Just learning. The music is also provided by YouTube. How did I do? If you giggled, I did it right. Let me know! (That’s Expendables 3 playing in the background at one point for those who are curious.)

Behind the Scenes

One of the things that I like to do is to bake a few treats for the attendees. It’s relaxing and gets my mind off of other things so I can focus on the training that evening. I must admit, I’m also enjoying playing with time lapse videos. That night’s menu included peanut butter cookies and banana bread muffins. Late night Facebook training sessions after a long day’s work requires treats to keep the mind going.

YouTube

In a previous post, I talked about learning YouTube. As someone who knows little about making videos but knows that videos are growing in popularity on social media. Longer Instagram videos, Snapchat videos, Facebook, Vine and more. I use YouTube to edit my videos in multiple ways, easy posting to G+ and other great reasons (like it’s free and has free music to enhance your video).

Here are some great stats full straight from YouTube, if you decide to dive into it, or revisit it.

  • YouTube has over a billion users — almost one-third of all people on the Internet — and every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views.
  • YouTube overall, and even YouTube on mobile alone, reaches more 18-34 and 18-49 year-olds than any cable network in the U.S.
  • Growth in watch time on YouTube has accelerated and is up at least 50% year over year for three straight years.
  • The number of people watching YouTube per day is up 40% y/y since March 2014.
  • The number of users coming to YouTube who start at the YouTube homepage, similar to the way they might turn on their TV, is up more than 3x y/y.

y/y means Year-on-Year or Year-Over-Year.

YouTube is free, and you can even make money by allowing commercials to play before your video. It also allows for editing including making videos time lapse style, creating slow motion videos, editing coloring, etc. Once you have the video the way you want it, you can download it and sent it to other social media. It also gives the an easy way to add videos to your website with the embedding code it makes for you.

Ideas for various videos for you business:

  • how to videos
  • tips/tricks
  • behind the scenes
  • about your company
  • about a product
  • highlights of special events

More Comment Humor

The blog portion of my website allows for comments. Most of the comments are spam. Sometimes I take time to read them for a laugh. Here are some of my latest spam comments. How do I know it’s spam? Other than bad grammar, typos and irrelevant to the post, the email address and/or website is hinky.

“I visited several web pages however the audio feature for audio songs present at this web site is actually wonderful” - Comment on Latest News from Pinterest (no songs in the site)

“Thanks a lot! It is definitely an great site!” - Comment on Byrd Park in Spring (why are you thanking me for a few photos?)

Times Are Still Changing

clockSince I wrote about Time is always changing, my business still changing. I’m still reading more great books and still continue to evolve. I have read “#GIRLBOSS” by Sophia Amoruso twice now and read “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom. I will be honest, it was really tough listening to the book, knowing that Morrie was slowing deteriorating from ALS. If you get this book from Audible.com, you will get to hear Morrie’s interviews that were used to create the book. It was so cool to hear him. For business and life, both are great!

Over the past two months, I have evolved my business by:

  • Updated my Facebook Page training PowerPoint and Handout
  • Set up Facebook Page training workshops
  • Finished setting up my office
  • Set up my conference room/classroom
  • More website updates
  • Added behind the scenes, time lapse photography
  • Purchased a new camera that is amazing!!
  • Learning YouTube
  • A few surprises that I am working on so stay tuned!

What new and amazing things have you done (are you doing) to improve your business?
