Times, they are a-Changin’
Since I wrote “Times Are Still Changing“, over two years have passed. I continue to read self-development and business books. The most recent books include:
- Super Attractor, by Gabrielle Bernstein
- You Are a Badass Every Day, by Jen Sincero
- The Compound Effect, by Darren Hardy
- Think Better, Live Better, by Joel Osteen
Over the past two years, social media has changed a lot. Some I have discussed at length before, like Facebook. Others, not so much like Snapchat and YouTube.
Over the past few months, I have studied TikTok. It is fun and I can see the potential for marketing. There are many professions already on there sharing their knowledge and educating the viewers. I’ve seen auto repair guys, construction workers, doctors, lawyers, tow people, cops, K-9 patrol, and voice coaches. The older demographic is growing, so it could be an avenue to market your business.
YouTube has changed greatly in two years. It continues to grow and be a great place to reach all ages. Sadly, you can no longer edit videos on the platform. I used their editing tools for every video. Two years later, I still have not found a great replacement.
Snapchat continues to decline in activity. It was hard to be found on the app before and last I checked it hadn’t gotten any easier. If you didn’t have an iPhone, then using the app was challenging. For a while, Snapchat only focused on iPhone updates and ease, which left out the Android community. It would take a long time to load the app. It took longer to switch between filters if you wanted to use one. I wasn’t using it and wasn’t connecting with others as I hoped. Due to all this, I deleted my account.
Other changes:
- I hired a business coach.
- I split my business into two (at least marketing-wise).
- I hired my first employee, Spencer.
- Gained new clients
- Helped many businesses in Richmond, VA improve their digital marketing strategies.
