Email Campaigns

December 14, 2018 Email 1

Here is a list of great questions you should answer during any email campaign. These are great food-for-thought questions, whether you are in the planning process or have created newsletters for years.

  • Have you started an email campaign for your business yet?
  • What is keeping you from starting it?
  • How consistent will you be (or are you) with your newsletters? (daily, weekly, monthly?)
  • Are your goals realistic? (time, resources, client list?)
  • Is the subject of your emails “interest catching” to your audience?
  • Are you worried about the cost of the email marketing services?
  • What have you learned from other newsletter sign-ups (do you value their coupons, helpful tips, or events)?

My newsletter sign-up is pretty small. My open rate for my newsletters is over 50% for each newsletter sent. That is amazing! The average “good open rate” is normally about 10-20% for any given industry. If my newsletter open rate is an Olympian then it’s Micheal Phelps!

I am consistent with my newsletter (the 1st Thursday of every month between 7:30-8:30 am). I write to my audience and not at them so they can understand. I avoid tech-jargon. I also keep it short and to the point. Get to the point!

Now to address cost…

I recommend MailChimp to all my clients and friends. MailChimp has a great FREE service for newsletters with webinars regularly for teaching you how to use MailChimp. As part of the FREE service, the newsletter you create can be shared on your Facebook Page, personal profile, and a Twitter account. MailChimp also allows you to create a sign-up on your Facebook Page and your website. It has a large variety of templates that you can modify to make your own. Also, their helpdesk has been very helpful the few times I’ve needed to use it. If you already have an email campaign with another company, you can easily export your contact lists and easily import them to MailChimp for FREE.
