Twitter Decorum

There is nothing wrong with repeating tweets from your blog. Twitter is a loud and busy social media. Your followers may have missed it the first time or two. Please keep your posts current and spread out your repeated tweets. The more blog posts you have, the variety you have in your tweets.
If a blog post is over a year old and if any of the content is outdated, please write a new post with current information or update the old post. If you write a new post leave the old post in the past. Do not continue to share it. Seeing tweets about a 2-year-old post, where the content is no longer accurate, makes you look bad. Same for sharing the same post multiple times a day for weeks and months at a time. It’s annoying and can cause you to lose followers.
One way to schedule posts and make sure they are varied is by using Hootsuite. It allows you to schedule tweets and the timing so you avoid this dilemma.
If you are like me and use a WordPress plugin to help auto-post. Take time to change your settings from time to time including:
- types of posts - exclude category or tag
- how it creates hashtags
- frequency/timing
- how it creates a post - with the title, without an image
