The Slow Season

August 2, 2018 Blogging Development 3

Most business owners think about business changes around the end/beginning of the year when the annual budget is reviewed and adjusted. But what about the slow season? We all have them. When work slows down, it is a great time to review your marketing and focus on it!

  • Are you behind on blog posts?
  • Can you create extra posts to refill your queue?
  • Do you need to update older blog posts?
  • Do you need to update your email marketing list?
  • Can you create additional newsletters for your busy season?
  • Is your social media presence lacking or outdated?
  • Is now a good time to add a new social media to your marketing strategy?

I admit (though I’m not sure it’s the best idea to share) that I enjoy my slow season as much as I love my busy season. During the slow season, I do the above and then some! For example, I am currently planning a photo session with my friend and photographer, Sarah Kane. The portraits will be for this website and blog, and for my various social media. I have my outfits lined up, locations picked out, and created a private Pinterest Board that I shared with her. Spending a few hours one afternoon to create “stock photography” for my blog and social media, will save me time in the long run. It’s fun and different! As much as I don’t like being on the front side of a camera, I again have to be honest and say I’m looking forward to it!

So be on the lookout for the fun photos of me in Richmond coffee shops coming soon.
