Board of Communications

I am excited to tell you about something that I did a few weekends ago. For those of you who don’t know, the Virginia United Methodist Church has an annual meeting for each Conference. A few weekends ago, the Virginia Conference met. I spent that weekend helping out on the tech desk and presented at one of the dinners.

The dinner was organized by another member of the Board of Communications. Five of us from the board presented and we created six different cheat sheets for the attendees to take home. The sheets covered website and hosting, three different social media, blogging, and a best practices sheet. We divided up into 5 different areas and were giving about 20 minutes to share. After the 20 minutes, the guests rotated to the next area of interest. We ended the dinner with an open panel discussion. Lots of compliments were given.

Other than the dinner, I spent the rest of my time at the tech desk on the floor of the conference. I helped with the Conference’s social media and whatever else they needed. It was an exciting and stressful time. We’ve already started talking about next year’s event.
